2. Support - Deacon Catch-up Calls

   Let’s chat and pray together!
   Tonight and this coming Saturday morning will be our first monthly catch-up calls. Just a chance to chat and pray with Deacons from around the Presbytery.

   We are less than two weeks away from our annual Deacon Fellowship. The one time of year we all gather to equip, support, and connect with one another.

Hello fellow Deacons!

Whether you are a fall-purist waiting until September 22nd, or you believe fall starts when pumpkin spice everything rolls out, I hope that you have a fantastic start to fall this month, and that it cools off soon.

This also means that our annual Deacon Fellowship is less than two weeks away! I hope that you have registered, but if not, you can register here! You can also read below for more information. This year is the first time we are trying out a two day event, Friday evening and Saturday morning/early afternoon. If you are only able to come on Friday or Saturday, that is perfectly fine, I would still love to see you there!

This fellowship time is not only beneficial for you, but it is beneficial for others to meet you and learn from your experience and wisdom. The Elders of our churches have quarterly presbytery meetings wherein they encourage, teach, and get to know each other, we Deacons need the same thing. So come out and enjoy the fellowship that helps us all serve our churches and those in need better.

While this is an El Nino year and the Atlantic has been quiet, it is still hurricane season, so we must keep at least one eye on the Atlantic. The reality of living in Florida during storm season means that we must be ready to work together, that happens best when we fellowship together regularly and train together. So read below for more information and come out to the Deacon Fellowship, join the catch-up call tonight or Saturday, and join us for the upcoming chainsaw training!

Lets fellowship and train so that we can be ready to serve whenever we are needed!

SUPPORT

Monthly Deacon Catch-Up Calls

Many of our brother Deacons in the OPC benefit from regular calls to catch-up and pray with other Deacons in their presbytery. I think this would be a great practice for us to pick up!

These calls do not have a set agenda. They are simply meant to bring Deacons together from around the presbytery so that we can continue to get to know each other better and pray together.

From the feedback I got, the two proposed date/time slots seem to work. Those will be the first Tuesday (6pm-6:30pm) and first Saturday (8am-8:30am) of each month.

This means that our first call is tonight!

Each month in the newsletter I will send out the link for both of the calls. I hope to see you on the call!

The 2026 Deacon Fellowship
September 11th-12th at Orangewood

Our annual Deacon Fellowship is coming up in less than two weeks! Not this weekend, but next!

This year, we are partnering with Thirdmill Ministries to host the Deacon Fellowship. This partnership allows us to elevate the fellowship so that we can be Equipped, Supported, and Connected better than ever.

In order to accommodate this partnership and the increased quality of the fellowship, for the first time ever, we are expanding it to two days: Friday, September 11th and Saturday, September 12th.

We will start at 6pm and end at 8:30pm on Friday the 11th, then resume again at 8:30am on Saturday, finishing at 2pm. Breakfast and lunch will be provided on Saturday, with a donation of $10 requested for lunch.

If you can only come for Friday evening or Saturday morning/afternoon, that is perfectly fine. We will send out a link to those who have registered to watch the seminars they cannot attend in person, online.

We will be hearing from Chris Sicks, Pastor of One Voice Fellowship and author of the book “Tangible,” as well as from Randy Nabors, Pastor Emeritus of New City Fellowship and author of the book “Merciful.”

In addition to hearing from these great speakers, we will have the opportunity to network together as brother Deacons from around Central Florida and connect with agencies, ministries, organizations, resources, etc. that can help us better serve those in need.
